LeRoy “Tucker” Maxwell, Jr., Esq.

 

LeRoy S. Maxwell, Jr. (“Tucker” Maxwell) practices almost solely in the financial and estate planning areas with emphasis on tax planning and personal planning for the family and on estate administration. The documents often used in this area of law include wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, and medical powers of attorney (with living wills), estate administration documents, and tax returns including Federal Estate Tax Returns, Pennsylvania Inheritance Tax Returns, Inventories, Probate Petitions, and Accountings. He, with the assistance of his two estate paralegals and other staff, attempt to provide thorough assistance in all estate administration matters.

Tucker is a graduate of the Waynesboro Area High School (1959), Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA (1963), and the University of Pennsylvania School of Law in Philadelphia, PA (1966). In June of 1967, he authored an article in the Dickinson Law Review. From 1968 through 1969 he was Assistant District Attorney of Franklin County. From 1978 through 1986 he served as an officer of the Franklin County Bar Association, being its President from 1985 through 1986. He is currently a member of its Executive Committee. He is a member of the South Central Pennsylvania Estate Planning Council, and lectures frequently on such topics as estate planning, will preparation, tax law, probate estate administration, and the like.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank and Trust Co., Waynesboro, PA, which by merger is now a part of Manufacturers & Traders Bank based in Buffalo, New York. Tucker is currently a member of the Advisory Board of M & T serving the Central Pennsylvania area. He is Vice President of the Board of Directors of Quincy Home and Retirement Community. Tucker serves on the Board of the Franklin County Foundation and of the Professional Advisors Council of the Foundation for Enhancing Communities headquartered in Harrisburg, PA. He served as a member of the Trustee Council of Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA. He is a past President (twice) of the YMCA. He has been a Trustee at his church, Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, PA, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Waynesboro Hospital from 1984 until 1993. He is a member of the Waynesboro chapter of Rotary International and has been active at various times in numerous other civic matters.

Tucker and his wife Judy (who teaches Latin in the Greencastle-Antrim School District and in interactive long distance classrooms) live in Waynesboro. They have three grown sons; John a lawyer-executive at FedEx in Memphis, TN; David, a biology teacher at Pingry Academy in New Jersey; and Andrew, a chemist-brewmaster in Monroeville, PA. They have three grandsons, Kellan, Eli, and Samuel, all in Memphis.
