Melissa K. Dively, Esquire

 

Melissa K. Dively concentrates her practice on municipal, zoning, and land use matters. Prior to joining the firm, Melissa was appointed to serve as a District Justice for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Somerset County by Governor Casey. Subsequently she was elected to that position and served a six year term. A University of Pittsburgh School of Law graduate, Melissa completed an internship with the Department of Environmental Resources and a clerkship with the Court of Common Pleas of Butler County.

 

Her experience encompasses the private and public sectors including civil litigation, collections, and a concentration in the area of eminent domain practice during her service as Assistant Counsel for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Melissa also possesses extensive experience in municipal law including providing solicitor services to a number of boroughs, municipal authorities and zoning hearing boards. In addition, Melissa handles many of the firm’s client needs in the area of condemnation proceedings.

 

Melissa is a member of the Franklin County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. She is also a past member of the Somerset County Bar Association where she was recognized as a County Bar Leader.

Civic Interests

Melissa is Board Member of the Chambersburg Municipal Authority, formerly served as a board member with the Somerset County chapter of the American Heart Association, and acted as a mentor in the Clara Barton Young Women Mentoring Program sponsored by the American Red Cross. An avid supporter of conservation efforts, Melissa is active with the Nature Conservancy, the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Ducks Unlimited, and the Allegheny Trail Alliance. In addition, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and remaining active in sports including running and biking.
